Fuel Tank Breather
Barksavon - 13/3/17 at 10:27 PM

Has anyone used one of these
Aero Tech Tank Vent Valve -6 Vent Inline To Suit -6 Hose 3/8" hose barb
as a fuel tank breather. I've read previous threads where it has been suggested they only work to relieve vacuum in the tank, however i e mailed a question to Demon Tweeks who replied that this item relieves pressure build up and vacuum.....?
Thanks
ian

I used a roll over vent as I believe to pass iva it needs to vent freely

I didn't think this was a roll over valve just a vent although I see someone has asked the question at Demon tweeks

I asked Demon Tweeks whether this handled vacuum and pressure and they replied yes. Ive bought one and can't really see how it can deal with both situations in a single installation as it is basically an inline one way valve, depending on which way its put inline it will relieve either a build up of pressure or a vacuum but not both.....or am i being a bit thick.
Ive only got a small fuel tank (17 litres) and its got a breather pipe coming out the top which i dont want to leave uncapped. Unsure which way to fit the valve now, either to relieve pressure or vacuum.....?

Its a rollover valve. When upright it flows freely in both directions, when inverted it is shut. It must be mounted vertically.

Edit: Ignore me, there is nothing in the lunk to confirm my assumption. Although it could be true.

I emailed ATL about this valve and they stated that it is NOT a roll over valve only a breather and so should fail IVA really. Looks like I will have to go for this one for 8mm inline hose https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/roll-over-v alve-in-line-with-5-16-8mm-push-on-tails-m-trl88
