Fitting carbs

got twin dcoe 40's and have removed them for servicing. WIll mount them back with misab mounting plates. Is there any other gasket or sealing devices required to attach them back onto the manifold. Also how tight do they need doing up as they were really easy to un do in the first place. I believe that there should be some degree of movement to allow for vibration.

any help would be great.

thanks

Simon

Just use the misab gaskets, nothing else required.

Indeed, they should be mounted to allow some flexibility. Presumably you also have rubber bobbins and cups instead of those awful thackery washers (multicoil spring washers, that WILL snap eventually, causing a leak)? The carbs must be secured with nylock nuts. Aim for about 5mm flex at the trumpet end of the bars, when tightend up evenly. You can do this by tightening up until the cups just touch each other, and then backing off each nut approx 8 flats.

It is also a good idea to have some sort of brace between the two carbs, to encourage them to move together, as opposed to independantly....
