engine positioning

Well I have a part completed book project.
came with pinto mounts with type 9 box mounting in place.
Q?. My gear lever (type 9 box)is about 50mm or so back from the wide section of the tunnel is that correct.
Q?. I am using a 1700 x/f and the mounting looks to be app 200mm or so in front of firewall, does this sound OK? as all the pics in the book show x/f mounts to be much further forward.
Q?. Anyone got a pair Allegro handbrake cables
Q?, Is a cover plate necessary between x/f and type 9, if so what did you use

sorry its a lot to ask, cheers Rob

Just get the engine/box as far back in the tunnel/engine bay as you can...

But make sure that the end of the box does not coincide with the tranny tunnel uprights on B2 - Causes problems with atrying to pass anything else through the tunnel such as brake/fuel pipes, loom, speedo cable etc (don't ask me how I know..........)

Build your tunnel round your gearbox. You'll get your gearlever where it suits you but make sure you have room for your feet on the pedals.
