Removed my engine and r380 gearbox at weekend and just wondwring what oil people use in thd r380.

If it's the same R380 gearbox that Land Rover used in the 300TDi/TD5/V8 models, they were filled with MTF94 as standard, although some people prefer to use ATF Dexron III instead.

I personally use MTF94, as I had my 'box fully rebuilt and that's what LR recommend. However if you look at places like Ashcroft Transmission, they recommend ATF. I've started with one so I'll continue to use it until something goes wrong!
