I've searched the forum and found comments saying I should avoid these like the plague, however a mate offered a pair of these twin 40 carbs for
£10 so I'm prepared for a certain amount of hastle.
My question is, does anybody know if these fit onto a webber Xflow manifold?
cheers in anticipation.
Geoff
p.s. If I can't get a manifold, they will be up for grabs to any alfa people out there, as I dont fancy making one.
theyll fit the manifold , but they arent made anymore - so parts can be rare - im unsure if webber/dellorto parts will fit - so jetting maybe a
problem - what alfa did they come off ?
Ill give you £20 !
I'm not sure which alfa, but will find out. Liable to be an older one though
Ill give you £20 !
well solex are pretty much defunct , so its still a gamble - chokes and venturis are nigh on impossible altho somebody who specialised in carbs may well have a supply , dont forget about emulsion tubes aswell .
Being tighter than a crabs ar5e at 40 fathoms I'll take the gamble at the moment rather than shelling out for an alternative, as I have a single
carb that should work for just now.
cheers for the advice
I'll keep you in mind if I bale on these if they're any use to you.
Geoff
theyll work on my volvo ! , i want em more for fabbing up my own plenum than using them to drive on .
They look like cheap copies of Weber and Dellortos. Try this place

Might make a cheap starting point to modify into throttle bodies!
They could be off just about any Alfa in line 4 twin cam between 1300 and 2000 cc -- they were fine when new but I have never seen them fitted to
anything else.
Even if they are off a 1600 they are unlikely to work on a Ford -- I know a guy who spen quite a lot of money on emulsion tubes and jets to get Alfa
webers to work on an Escort.
For the money I'd buy. Places like Gower and Lee and the Carburettor Hospital still cary a lot of spares for Solex carbs so there's a good chance of finding what you need.
i bought a pair of these when i was going to go the car engine route.they were on a 2.1 pinto but i dont know if it was running or not.but they were on a manifold bolted to the engine...i know someone on here pointed me in a direction where spares were available.but i cant remember who it was.try a search in google im sure thats what i did.......
I thought about it once but didn't buy..
Heyzees old thread is here

They are obsolete. Personally I would not buy them unless I was going to use them to make throttle bodies. Rolling road tuners almost certainly
won't have spare parts, and if you do find some jets what size will you buy??
At best it looks like you might make a quick £10 profit perhaps - in my humble opinion. Sorry to be negative
Cheers for all opinions!
Buying a webber manifold is not a bad idea then if I'm going to end up having to get a set of DCOEs anyway.
