2.9i to MT75

Who can help on this one?

Is is possible to fit an MT75 2WD box to a 2.9i?

My understanding is this: the later XR4x4s were 2.9i with MT75 box. I don't know if Ford made ANY manual 2.9i 2WDs.
(i.e. I think all 2.9 grannies/scorpios were 4speed autos)

I figure that if you use the front half of a 4WD box, and the back half of a 2WD box it should be a piece of cake.......or am I missing something?

You need a manual box out of a v6 granada which they did produce.

If you can't find one then you can get one made up from the following boxes :

RWD MT75 from a '14' engined car (twincam 8v)

4x4 MT75 from a v6 4x4

TopBoss in Nottingham knock them out.

Cheers Mr G,

Those 2WD 2.9 Granadas must be rare as R.H.S!

xr4i often had a 2wd v6. probably a type 9 box though.

RWD MT75 from a '14' engined car (twincam 8v)

isnt this an I4 not a 14?

The early xr4i's will all be type 9's (Type N actually) The facelift 87 on cars that where badged as xr4i's will be running the 'I4' engine and so have the 2.0l RWD mt75 box.
