I've read about the need to be careful when refitting to make sure there are no leaks.
My Sierra manual says to tighten the bolts as follows:
Stage 1: 6-8 Nm
Stage 2: 2-3 Nm
Stage 3: 6-8 Nm
Stage 4: 6-8 Nm
Now - that doesn't make a lot of sense to me?! Am I really going to tighten to 6, then untighten to 2, then retighten to 6 and have to retighten
again back to 6 (all following the criss-cross/back to front pattern in the manual)....
The only explanation I can think of is that as the gasket settles, and because of the pattern of tightening, it is actually necessary to tighten,
untighten, then retighten twice...
Check the manual again I think you will find the different stages are in fact the order to tighten which group of bolts. Also there are 2 different cam covers with different size (width) gaskets

Side bolts around the front of cover in to the front cam bearing tower are always the last to do up as you will pull the cover down on the lower cover bolts first.
