Hi All
i'm looking at doing something a little different with my exhaust on my locost.
i'd like to have a twin exhaust exiting from the rear of the car hidden underneath, rather than coming out of the side.
has anyone done this before, or have any ideas if it is possible
cheers
ian
I would have thought ground clearance would be the biggest problem with this.
Cheers,
Bob
You could make the transmission tunnel wider and run it down there. Might loose a bit of passenger space and it might get hot but with the right directing of air and heat protection, I think it could be done. Help with the aerodynamics too.
I don't think the shape of the exhaust affects the aerodynamics of a seven style car much. More likely to be it's brick like shape
I think it would be rather complicated to run the exhaust down the transmission tunnel without major modifications and thats with a bike engine
fitted. I'm sure it would be even more difficult with a car engine. Having said that, it's certainly not impossible, so if thats what you
want, go for it.....
westfield do a rear exit exhaust that i'm sure runs under the car. (as well as the more usual side of the car rear exit)
seems a bit brave running an exhaust through the transmission tunnel, what with all the other stuff that goes through there usually. I would send it down some side pods, and add a bit more to the 'different' look.
Lotus have in the past done this as well as the catering vans sent to america. The backbox was under the fuel tank ! The pipe passes to the back next to the rear wheel so its grounding chances are lessened
how about straight out the top of the bonnet as per big yank trucks ! would look different ! make sure its got SVA edges so you don't damage a pedestrian when you run em over !
thanks for the input guys
i'll have a look on AutoCAD and see what will fit, or if its possible without fouling anything.
u never know i might come up with some crazy design that might look pretty good
