Hi all,
Doing Lydden Hill 15th Sept and have a new, bigger radiatior after some previous cooling issues on a hot day at Brands. Need to put more coolent in
due to the bigger capacity, so plan to put some completely new in. Please can you suggest which to use?
Thanks in advance!
Matt
Whatever you do not Evans Waterless rubbish!
So water is the best coolant, with just enough antifreeze to protect the metal components, get some OAT antifreeze if the car is full of aluminium, if
it had glycol before use that... Mixing is bad as they both turn to jelly together.
Water wetter is brilliant stuff if your cooling is marginal.
Other stuff, good airflow and intake so it draws cool air not stuck behind the radiator!
As already suggested Water Wetter will drop the coolant temperature
I once had a Citroen Xm that ran very hot when towing a caravan , almost to the point of boiling. After putting in WW even on a very hot day the coolant temperature even after a long uphill climb never went over 90 degrees . Dropped the maximum temperature by at least 10 degrees
Water wetter as above with de-ionised water
If you get Euro car parts discounts water wetter is only just over £12
I’ve just changed mine to supercool with water wetter

With a little OAT as mentioned above just enough to help with winter storage.
Only just tested the car ready for Donnington in the morning but looking good already

Expensive way to do it!
Mix your own is way cheaper

Not when you get it through work. Has additional inhibitors I think from the blurb and accurately mixed
First few sessions done and temps holding really well and cooler than last time on track a couple of weeks ago
De ionised water £1 for 2.5ltr at Tesco
Got two 1.89 ltr supercool and a 355ml bottle water wetter for £35, do not complaining as it was a fairly last min desction to renew the violent for
today at Donny.
Just used Halfords OAT antifreeze concentrate.
Not seen it above 98 all morning so cooler than the oil for a change.
thanks everyone! Works for me!
