Hello,
the Pinto engine in my Westfield SEW ha no engine number.
I am on the way to register the car here in Belgium and it will go through a test more complicated then MOT but not as IVA.
So , it would be better to have the engine number.
This engine number is on the V5 ( car comes from UK to belgium)
Problem: how can i stamp the engine number without taking engine out ?
What would you recommend ?
Gerardo
Try cleaning the area where the engine number should be before
stamping, it may show the original up. Use some fine emery cloth
Area has been checked, no number
You won’t stamp it in the car.
You could try one of these:

tm/38-PCS-Automatic-Punches-Alphabet-Numbers-Metal-Letter-Tool-Punch-Stamp-Set-3-MM/264131340785
The similar auto dot punches are effective and for the price are worth a try, if nothing else you will have a set of letter punches.

Stamp an engine number! Sorry - that is the role of car thieves and ringers - and if it does not have one you have to ask why!!!!!!!?
If the engine was replaced at any time, it would likely have been supplied with no number. They often are.

ISTR that the intention with replacement, new engines is that they should be stamped with the number of the old engine before installation and the old block should be scrapped or the number ground off. More important these days, where the engine number often matches the VIN and you'd not want a warranty replacement with a mis-matched number that could raise questions when you come to sell.

I've heard this too somewhere. I would assume that it could be etched in with a die grinder type tool - but would be a pain to do I think!
