Burton's have a tuning guide for this engine...

Not quite what you asked, but may be useful...

stephen_gusterson is using a V6 (2.8 I think) so he may be able to give you some thoughts.

Very heavy, and also not a lot of power or tuning potential. The real plus sides are the availability of both engines and RWD gearboxes and of course cheapness.

The Duratec V6 would be a better choice. Still kicking myself for not bothering with a Duratec that was offered to me for free, albeit a seriously overheated one with a blown head gasket.

Big, heavy, expensive to tune, thirsty to run, quite rare nowadays, sounds nice. Stephen Gusterson is using a Cologne, all the above apply except rarety. In terms of power to weight just about every other (European) Ford engine beats it.

the v6 duratec is a very nice engine ,very powerful ,id have one myself but the misses would only get the hump if i whipped it out of the family cougar!

The v6 duratec is fine as long as it hasn't been over heated or blown up ---

gusters is using the 2.3 (2.4?)v6, not the 2.8.

You will be stuck for gearbox choice with the Essex: 4spd 3.0 MKI/II Capri or MKI 3.0 Granada, or 4spd + overdrive from Scimitar. If you manage to bolt on an MT75, let me know how!!!!
Can use type9 with correct bellhousing from 72-75 2.5 Granada. Again, if you manage to find one of those, get one for me too!!
