I have a ST170 to replace my zetec 1.8 , I’m looking for a way to control the VVT there was a aftermarket controller made by ME but they don’t sell it
anymore.
My question is what are my options? I’d like to use it so don’t really want to delete it. I’m using a Specialist Components Typhoon 2 ECU & don’t
want to completely replace my ECU system.
Any help is appreciated
I believe that Trigger Wheels bought the VVT Pro from ME - http://www.trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/p275.html
I picked up a 2nd hand one for my ST170. Worked a treat and made a massive difference to the way it ran, smooth from tickover and pulled really hard
right to the redline. I was on ZX6R carbs and it made 178bhp with lovely smooth torque / power curves
I have looked into this & it was developed by M.E Looks like they don’t stock/sell it anymore 😐 are there any other options out there to do the same job?
I think DANST Engineering do a package now which includes bike carbs, inlet manifold and a controller for ignition and VVT, it's around £1300 if my memory serves me well

Unfortunately the danst kit is still a ECU replacement,I wanted something I could run using my existing ECU as I did not want the hassle/expense of replacing the ECU/wiring
I don't think they where terribly reliable.
I wonder if the oem ECU could be cut down to make a budget controller. I am sure Me did something similar to emulate and read the map when designing
it.
