Is this normal?

Turning the engine over on the starter with plugs removed. Prop is in the gearbox but not bolted to the diff. Gearbox definitely in neutral. Clutch was a combination of parts which o think is correct. Slightly surprised to do the prop turning with the engine.

Vaguely think this is fine but wanted the collective wisdom before I put the plugs in and try to start the engine.

Yep, pretty normal. Power just being transmitted by the oil viscosity.

If you hold the prop you should be able to stop it fairly easily. If you cant the theres something else up.

That was a shock to me the first time I had my tintop up in the air and started the engine. The wheels started turning and I was absolutely bricking it, thinking I'd left it in gear and it would go flying off the stands!!

As mentioned, they can be stopped by hand quite easily. Or in my case, a dragging brake caliper...

I notice this on my tin top at the lights - pop it into first and there's a gentle initial nudge that then goes away. Thought it was clutch drag at first lol
