Hi all....
I have a brief question that will most likely lead into a million more. I've been directed to this forum by the nice chaps at Powertech (the
engine building bods at the Radical Clubsport company)
I'm desperately searching for the dimensions and mounting coordinates for ANY high-end bike engine. ZZR1100, CBR1000, R1 or even a hay-bus.
IF anyone is able to give any hints as to where I can find this, I'd be eternally greatful. Anything I get wil be converted into ProEngineer
files, and susequently any other format that can be produced by that poor excuse of a program.
I'd also like to know one small thing.... the CBR600 and 1000..... are they essentially in the same block, or am I dreaming?
reason.... I'm designing a Silouhette Mini, destined to be mid-engined and bike powered. Here in Sweden, NOTHING with a power to weight ratio
of over 200bhp/ton will pass the SVA equivalent. So standard procedure here is to simply drop a bigger lump into the vehicle afterwards. I'm
wondering if a de-tune will give the same outcome, but I'm not sure..... anyway, if the 600 and 1000 had the same mounting points, that might
just be a tad beneficial.
Thanks for any info, advice or abuse anyone may wish to send my way...
All the best,
Nick.
the guys and girls at Bike Chat Forums will most likely measure their engines for you as they're a nice bunch or even Visordown.
Simple put some huge leadweights in it to kill the power to weight ratio. Ala BTCC
I could give you roughly measured dimensions of an R1 if that would help, and for mounting points...but how accurate would you need it to be?
as a thought, whichever engine you go for you could get a restrictor kit for it - this might get around the rules
HTH
Colin
Hi again
Thanks for the tips guys... Lead weights might just work, but I'm sure that the SVA (equivalent) inspector would smell a rat.
Fortunately I've just discovered that one of my colleagues has a mate who SVA's road legal dragsters and hotrods. They're way over the
200bhp 'limit', so a loophole MUST exist somewhere.
Colin: I'd be endebted if you'd be able to give some basic measurments... you seem to be able to supply them too... might be useful in the
future
As for accuracy, it's not a big thing at the moment... so long as I have enough info to make sure that I can build enough room into the
framework. A set of piccies taken with a meter ruler next to it would even be good enough. 'Exact sizing' of the Engine mounts can come
later... the ability to work out where I need to connect with the chassis is the first goal.
De-Tuning.... would a simple inlet restrictor do the job? (á la Formula Student/SAE)
thanks again, and have a great weekend.
All the best..
Nick

LMAO.
Hi Rorty,
No relation to Niko at all so far as I know...
With Colin's help I've managed to get my engine choice to be somehwere around the R1 area, THe Hay-bus dimensions might still be of interest
though as I might end up getting bored with 300Bhp/ton and go in search of more.... I'll U2U you.
chees all,

Hi Nick
Is this download any use? Its a CAD drawing from DPCars.net of a
busa engine drawn in Pro-Engineer, if you Google for "free IGES reader" several apps crop up to download assuming you don't have access
to a full CAD package
Chris
Thanks Chris!!
I found that file on a forum somewhere else some time ago... but it had been corrupted.
I'll try it at work tomorrow. (I have full ProE there.... so no problem with reading the files )
Rorty send a fantastic PDF file to me... if This DPcars file doesn't work, I'll created my own model.
I'll keep you posted!!
You probably found the one on the Yahoo BEC list? I noticed it was corrupt the other day and meant to delete it along with loads of other crap that
people have uploaded over the years.
Would you believe there was even a spreadsheet on there that detailed a survey of different bondage techniques that people used LOL (obviously not a
survey of people on the BEC list, just some random punter using it as web space!). Suffice to say that one got deleted.

yup. that's the one.
DAMMIT, spent all day at work dealing with pure and utter incompetence, and totally forgot to check the model.
Bondage?? hmm.. what was the favourite? LOL
