Hi guys,
I am building a car using a 2.0l silvertop Zetec, type 9 5 speed box and a RWD Motorsport aluminum bell housing (has hydraulic clutch cylinder moving
standard clutch lever.
What options are there for lightened flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing are there and who is a good company to get them off?
Many thanks
Depends on budget.
My approach was a zetec 1800 flywheel, redrilled to take a pinto clutch. (LUK clutchkits are cheap and reliable)
Easier is to use the zetec clutch kit with CT133 clutch bearing. 2 litre clutch is "better" but heavier.
There are lighter flywheel options, but obviously costs go up rapidly, and worth weighing up cost v benefit.
Hi ya,
Looking to reduce weight if I can so anything on that front would be fab.
Happy to use a standard clutch etc.
Like above your looking for a 1.8 sized flywheel. Standard or aftermarket. A pinto clutch is easier to find than the correct 1.8 zetec clutch. Most
1.8 zetec clutches don't work with a t9. Only one used with an Mtx75. Ie mk1 1.8 mondeo.
Then there is the trust bearing.
Billet 1.8 fly is around £250 +
Luk pinto clutch £60+
Hi ya,
Who does a 1.8 flywheel etc that can take a pinto clutch?
Many thanks guys
Ttv
Turbosport
Burtonpower and Retroford probably sell the same one.
There is a firm selling Ginetta Zetec flys on eBay.
The more you mix and match the more you have to play with it. Buy in one place and talk to them and it should all bolt together.
Perfect!
How could I identify the one that was fitted previously?
Come again ?
Lol it didn't read right lol
I had a fly wheel that was fitted to the engine and gearbox when I got them. It could be a Pinto one etc but not sure how I can tell what it is. Is
the a way to tell?
Since 2005 i have used a 2.0lt silvertop 170 bhp with type 9 and std Mondeo clutch and Dunnell lightened flywheel and balanced RMP 1303 ( about £105
exchange ) and ct133 thrust bearing without a single problem, Mondeo clutch is bigger than Pinto. Ford made it's Mondeo clutch for 1500kg car
and occasional caravan so why change it. Changed to RX8 5 speed for better ratios with same clutch, still using in spirited driving style.

Hi Guys,
The photo upload isnt working but the fly wheel has a number on it, 928M 6398 AE.
I think its a 1.8 Mondeo fly wheel? No dowls in it, just 3 sets of 3 holes.
Hi all,
So looking like the below setup, only bit I am not sure about is if the standard clutch fork i have or do I need to get the RS2000 one?
Aluminum RWD bell housing (same as standard but lighter and uses hydraulic cylinder in place of cable)
Retro Ford billet Steel light fly wheel.
Pinto clutch and thrust bearing from LUK.
Will the standard fork do or does it have to be the RS2000 one?
Cheers!
