Hi guys,
Read loads of posts, emails received from flywheel supply people saying "fit the standard 8 1/2 Ford LUK clutch assembly" etc but what
model, description is the clutch lol. Can not go on euro car parts or ebay and search for clutch. I will be using a lightened 1.8 Zetec flywheel and a
type 9 gearbox.
Cheers!
Guess everyone has the same issue not knowing lol
8.5" or 215mm is a pinto clutch.
1.8 zetec is 220mm.
Just plain and simple 2.0 capri / sierra with a pinto and a T9.
Standard zetec flywheel needs re drilling. Aftermarket would probably come dual drilled.
There is a guy on the rwd fb page doing 3 piece Luk Pinto clutches for not a lot of cash.
Advantage is no need to mess with a cct133 thrust bearing. The thicker cover plate has more clutch travel.
Disadvantage you have to get an oem 1.8 flywheel re drilled.
Hi ya,
How can I tell if the flywheel i have has been re-drilled. I have pics of it and the clutch plates too
Do you have the flywheel already ?
I have pics of it. I have a 2.0l zetec that had a type 9 fitted to it. The concensus is that the fly wheel is a Zetec 1.8. I am about to send it away
to be resurfaced and lightened. Just trying to find a new clutch, friction plate and bearing for it. Have the old ones with pics too.
Cheers,
As it’s suggests, if it’s been redrilled there will be an extra set of threaded holes and an extra three holes for the dowel pegs.
The ford flywheel can be spun up in a lathe and drilled to death just make sure anyone doing it knows what there doing. Research flywheels
grenading.
For me, run the standard flywheel with a Zetec clutch or get a billet one and use the 8.5 clutch.
I personally run 240mm clutches in an Mt75 but I will be using an 8.5” for my next one with mx5 box.
Hi ya,
Looking at Dunnel to do it. Just seemed a bit much on the clutch, £138 + VAT?
If you are considering going to Dunnel to get it done you could try Scholar Racing who are just off the A140 not far from Dunnel.
Scholar lightened, balanced and drilled the flywheel on my Zetec a few years ago. Personally I would use Scholar ahead of Dunnel anytime.
