duratec swap problem

Hello,


After weeks doing nothing else but working ( Covid ),finally had an afternoon to fit the Duratec in the Westfield.
The type 9 gearbox was already in place.
The clutch is cable operated.

it went pretty easily in and i spent the rest of the afternoon drilling for the engine supports, mounting the alternator , starter etc....

Later, i took an hour to cut the body to allow space for the exhaust ( exhaust exits 5 cm more to the front than the pinto one).

Time to connect the clutch cable.

And then i noticed a problem.

Even pushed at the maximum, the release bearing does not touch the flywheel

Flywheel is the St 150 original with original pressure plate.
I have a RWD bellhousing with RS2000 release fork and RS2000 release bearing.
as instructed by RWD, i moved the clutch fork pin forward 6 mm .

So , what have i done wrong ?

Don’t know the correct combination of clutch, bearing etc but is the fork back to front? I know someone that did that previously.

There is a clutch release bearing that is 8mm deeper 113 or 133 for a Capri.
The original ST clutch is very flat compared with other clutches and also has a self adjusting mechanism which may need resetting.
When fitting or refitting this type of clutch you need an install tool or look on YouTube for how to reset and install without tool
If you don’t install properly clutch will wear out in an uneven manner quickly.

Also check the release arm has not fallen off the new pivot or the pivot is loose, the important thing on the pivot is the shoulder where the fork sits so it is that that needs to be extended

Hello,
i have checked for what you mentioned about reseting the pressure plate.

the pressure plate is a standard one , without self adjusting.

When i place the clutch and pressure plate , there is a 6-7 mm space between pressure plate and flywheel.
When bolts are full lock, pressure plate finger's where the release bearing pushes are moved forward and not reacheable by the release bearing.

if i place a 2 mm washer between the pressure plate and the flywheel , then the fingers stay at the right place.
but can i be sure that there will be enough pressure on the clutch ?
