Hi all,
Been a while since I was last here, been very busy at work and started a new job. My other hobbies of sailing, bee keeping and allotment are paused
for the winter so I have tinkering time.
I have a 1300 xflow which I got running last year but I'd like to replace the twin 40s with something a bit more suitable and easier to tune and
maintain. (And cheaper to run)
Is the 28/36 DCD the best choice?
Anyone have one for sale I can bolt on and fire up?
Thanks!
Jon
If you can find one, in my opinion the 34/36 dgv weber on the Escort 1300GT manifold takes some beating for reliable road use, you probably
wouldn't notice much loss in performance either, then again I've never been a big fan of the dcoe type carbs.
I had a 1300 Mk3 Cortina with a 34/36 escort set up, transformed the underpowered barge.

Hi
750 Motor Club Locost racers with 1300cc run with a downdraft Weber, see:
http://www.750mc.co.uk/formulae/locost.htm
https://www.750mc.co.uk/ugc-1/1/1/0/2021_locost_-_final_regs.pdf
What do you want to use the car for and what car is it?
Do you want to sell your twin 40 Webers jetted for a 1300 Crossflow? Are these are on a short inlet manifold (i.e. might fit in a Locost?). What spec
is the engine including camshaft?
Cheers
Mike

Hi
Thanks, will see what I can find, unless anyone on here is selling something.
I would sell the twin 40s but they're not matched and need a complete overhaul. They're on the 1300 manifold which clears them of the
distributor etc.
Just finished the cooling system and went to restart and the starter isn't engaging. Sigh.

New downdraft twin choke Weber 32/36 DGV carbs are available from Eurocarb:

They also sell carb refurb kits if you can find a secondhand carb.

Why not try posting a wanted ad in the ads section or on the racing section of this forum?
Also Classic Formula Ford cars use this cab IIRC, so maybe worth asking such racers and their suppliers. https://www.classicformulaford.co.uk/

Hi Jon,
Another thing to bare in mind is your bonnet height and lines, as with bike carbs, you can probably keep them under a full bonnet, but a down draught
will probably need a hole cut in the said bonnet to allow it and or the filter to go through.
Your 40's on a manifold will probably allow no cut outs needed, similar to bike carbs. I am no good with fibreglass hence why i have kept with
bike carbs to prevent any f/g cutting and finishing nicely needs.
I had an old motorcraft carb and you're right, it didn't fit. The 40s don't either though I'll be cutting either way...

Is it worth considering converting it to injection? Even single point would be better than a carb and it would improve your mpg which given the cost of petrol these days would be very helpful.

I’m pretty sure I have a 1300gt carb but no linkage or manifold, I can make sure at the weekend if you were interested.

Yes, but budget won't stretch that far. I have too many expensive hobbies!
