Does anyone know what fwd gearbox fit these engines. Even better, does anyone have one gathering dust somewhere

Duratec 2.5 came in two flavours turbo i5 ie the volvo engine or the v6. Ie Ford, Jag or mazda.

Now I do have a rwd v6 rx8 conversion gathering dust that I need to move when I get home next week.

...and a 4pot (duratec25/Mazda L).

I know thats an almost straight swap with a 2lt in a MX5 mk3. Makes them pull a bit better

Hey up warren, Adi is right, this is the 4 pot engine. I have a new crate engine that i would like to mount in the back of a car

I guess it'll mount to the later Mazda6 box (2010 onwards?) or any of the Duratec engined Focus/Mondeo boxes.

Be wary of the X Type gearbox, the 2.1 V6 was the only one which was just FWD and has dreadful ratios.
