Hi folks
Just about to spring clean my engine ("red and black top" and I just wondered if anyone can tell me if I need to modify the sump for use in
my Velocity - for increased ground clearance?
If so, can anyone give me some hints as to what is required?
Oh and if there is anything else I need to know etc, then I'm all ears. My plan is to keep it pretty standard for starters.
Cheers all
Rich
well it does depend on which engine mounts you plan to use.... If you go for the ones from RAW then you wont need to chop the sump and if your using the velocity bodywork shouldnt have problems with height. Im using RAW mounts but am using locost bodywork on the velocity chassis. ive got pretty good clearance below the car but there isnt much between the bonnet and the oil filler cap (if any at all). Unlike the pinto its not a very tall engine.
I'll second that Findlay.I also have Raw engine mounts in my Indy and the sump is standard.
Tig welder Dad could have chopped it if necessary but no need so standard it stayed.
I ran a standard sump all last year (road and track) in my striker 4age. Had no real problems, just a few dents and scrapes. Sump is being shortened
for this year as we speak (hopefully). It's really just a precaution, probably not essential. I seem to have started all my winter mods a bit
late this year. Only 5 weeks until first track day and still taking bits off the car!
Ben.
