As above how easy to fit?? Obviously make manifold etc... Will it run ok....
Cheers
I have spoken to Bogg Brothers late last week (nice guy) .He reckons my R1 40mm carbs are just the job .He said that he could rejet them and set them
up on the bench to get the car running (he did say a price ? it wasnt a lot) then when I get the engine in a car It would benifit from being finished
of on the rolling road..There manifolds are £150+vat ..Said heed also got some laser cut flanges ready to make some manifold up for the zetec..
I will be collecting my new engine on friday, its a mondeo on a 95 with 75k on it £200+vat may have to bash the credit card and get the manifold and
carbs set double quick ...Bike carbs do have pipes going to the air box to presure open the chokes, I havn't got the air box and I want to use a
pannel filter so I havn't sussed that yet..What you going to use for your ignition? I was going to use megajolt light jr ?I have sent Brent in
the states an email to ask if he still has parts in stock before ordering from his site but no reply yet...Does anyone Know the details for the guy
doing them overe here in the uk?? Anybody else already done this and I would love to have a chat????
2ltr zetec on quad 40mm carbs 160 bhp here we come
Ill be running a 1.8 zetec with the esc ign thing till i can afford the megajolt however im nowhere near that stage yet. Im interested in bike carbs cos they seem to be cheaper to buy and are more interesting that twin 40's etc.
yep got mine on ebay for £60 .Try getting any other twin/quad setup for that money
Have a look at the photos in my album and you will see a pinto on bike carbs.
We used a Megajolt unit bought fully assembled from Brent in the States (great service).
All i can say is go for the bike carbs. Much better than 40s/45s!
One tip is be careful with the fuel pressure. Too much and you will overcome the float valve in the bottom of the carbs.
Most bike carbs normally run just gravity fed from the tank so you need sod all pump pressure.
Dan,
Good to meet you on Sat morn. If you need any help just drop me a line. If you get stuck with a manifold i can probably help you out.
Cheers,
Doug.
can the bike carbs be as easily converted into TBs as the normal car ones?
I was thinking about this the other day and can't see why not.
You could put the injector bungs in the manifold.
Cheers chaps.
Garage19 good to meet you too. We'll have to meet up again.. I want to see your finished car!! You had enough manifolds laying on your garage
floor..
Decision made. Bike carbs it is..
What you reckon the best carbs are to use? Bigger engined ones?
