Emerald have produced a new cheaper ECU which you can read about on their website, but ill be damned if i can find any info on it anyone else heard about this?
Mega small piece in ppc ...march issue, page 20 top left under "top gear"
Mind you its still £380+vat
Bring on the megajolt light jr
thats where i saw it, i want a straight plug in swap for my rover mems on my road car and this looked like the best option . i am going mega-?????? on my build car
It's a cut down version of the M3DK with the features that most people don't use (e.g. traction control) taken out.
Think they've also removed the K-Series immobiliser functionality, though.

Take a look at the size comparison of the old M3d and the new k2, you,d be pushed to get a kseires plug on there i would have thought.
liam, how much are you gonna tune your k series, you can do quite a bit before changing the mems if you do the right things.
£380 is an absolute BARGAIN for this equipment.
Yes, it's more expensive that X Y Z but it will do everytjing you need it to do without pratting about with code which frankly I don't
understand.
The emerald system comes with full instructions, free control software, really user friendly interface, flying lead loom and comms cable.
For the money, it is the best bar none and you don't need to be a computer genius to use it.
Megasquirt is fine but what cost do you put on your time, and how much more could it cost in rolling road time, compared to the ease of use of the
Emerald system.

Yep I take your point.
I did not mean to say that the emerald was bad value or even expensive for what you get ,more that its a bit rich for my pocket
The tittle of this forum is I beleive "Locost" and I consider my time as free, because this is my hobby...
Computors are not my strongest point(I can not even get a pic into my avatar but i am willing to have ago...Which is what its about to me.. If not
then a may aswell get a bank loan and buy a catherham ect ready to drive out the box......... Just my 2p worth.............................
to reply to stressy,
i am going to take the k series as far as i can without replacing the valve seats, i am going to stay with the 1600 though, meant to be more revvy
than the 1800 on account of the shorter stroke.
i would love to have a go at porting myself but i wouldn't attempt it without inspecting a DVA head , what state of tune is your k in stressy

I've got an M3DK and I've emailed Emerald to ask how to setup the tractiin control (I'm looking for launch control in particular) but
had no response.
Can anybody offer any help?

When you put it like that..........
Maybe the megajolt is one of those things where cheapest is not always cheapest?
More investigation required.......
I emailed Brent in the states to see if he was still taking orders , and have yet had no reply.........
Thanks for your reply.............................

That was my Capri on te front cover, and in the Capri feature by the way ( PPC mag )
do you mean the daytona yellow mk1 capri with the 302 in? are you will ?
Liam,
I agree on the 1600 comment. At the present my engine is as was, bar the intake and exhaust which up the grunt a little. My net port of call is really
the gearing which is absoluetely rubbish. Long term my intetntion was to go for about 150bhp, a geniune useable 150 goes a long way.
sounds very good without going bonkers. what route to 150 will you take, porting, different induction, valves, will you keep the mems?
hope you don't mind the questions but i will be following you down this road when i take the rover 216 off the road

no. mine is the MKIII ( orange ) 24v. The same issue that gave news on the new K2.
i have much more hair than will
Liam,
I will probably go for a 52mm throttle body matted to a matched alloy intake assy, a ported standard valve head and piper fast road cams. I will keep
the mems unless have have problems in which case i will add an emerald, if i then add throttle bodeis later ill have 175bhp to play with. A better
exhaust will be high on the list tho.
