Anyone have any views/opinions/experience of 2.1 ZVH turbo engines.

Yup..... why bother!

Stick with the 16v head.

I know someone who has one in a Mk4 escort. They're good for bragging rights at Ford get togethers.

i think it is to do with the "i've got a turbo with 18 Bar boost" thing, not sure how much torque or power they make but it can't be more than a NA duratec or a Zetec. Even k series 1800 will make 180 hp and more

it is fairly straighforward to convert though no changing manifolds or owt.

A ZVH wil do 250bhp with ease, and at much lower rpm than a naspy. A K series will do 180bhp for about 10 miles until the head gasket goes.

as far as i know there are plenty of k series owners with reliable engines with 180 hp plus. there are ways of eliminating head gasket failure no?

There arent any ways of getting rid of the risk, but there are ways of reducing the risks.

i think though a 180 hp k will go a lot further than 10 miles if looked after

It wasn't an exact figure, the point was that a ZVH will make a lot more reliable horsepower than a K, and will also make more horspower than a NA Duratec or Zetec all day, and for a lot less money too.
