Hi chaps, ive just fitted a type9 box in me car and using the standard rubber mount the box can move about alot. can you buy any poly bush type mount for the type9??? or how about bolting it straight up to the chassis???? just a thought

Try one of these:

It is substantially stiffer and quite reasonablaby priced.

Be aware that the gearbox sits about 13mm higher so you may want to lower the position of the mount to chassis.

No problem to anyone on this site.

Cheers

Billy, I used one of the westy ones too - brilliant. Cheap easy to fit (I made a small cradle for it)

I will be up your way shortly (Marsh Barton!)

like wise, I changed the Sierra mount for a Westy one. I also made a cradle, following a good study of Mark's build pics

Have you used the cup shaped washer that came off the car with the gearbox mount. I fitted a big washer inside it and it tightens it up .

No, what's the point of the cup washer- doesn't do bugger all I can see!

I think it's there to limit the movement of the gearbox within the joint and damaging the metalastik part. Talking extreme situations here, either vehicle being grounded, or jacked up.... on the gearbox.

Mine was like a b@llock in a breeze till I refitted the washer and put a thick repair washer inside it as well.
