I've got a Sierra DOHC with a twin choke Weber 2V (TLD) - I think that's the one - carb in my car and I'm wondering what drop in easy replacements there are for it (when I say easy I mean direct replacements that will fit the existing manifold). I need something that is a bit smaller as I have a clearance problem between the carb and brake master cylinder.

Would the robin hood owners not have the answers,they have a lot of usefull info there and i've seen plenty of hoods with sierra DOHC engines.

I think there are not that many Hoodies with DOHC engines, but having said that I don't get out that much....

Most of them are Pinto based except for the odd one or two that have a DOHC conversion. There are some Project 2B derivatives (like mine) that were specifically designed for the DOHC but they seem to be few and far between. BTW I am the Sussex area secretary of the owner's club.

I ask on this forum because I believe the Locost crowd (that's you lot) are more likely to have the answer. I think there are more real engineers on this forum, who are more likely to try non-stock parts on their cars. Robin Hoods, on the other hand, are built on the basis of "1 donor + 1 kit = completed car" (ha ha ha! What a load of old cobblers!) and so the owners are more likely to stick to stock.

Just to be on the safe side I've posed the same question on the Hoodie site but there is no response yet.

Your right the DOHC isnt the prefered engine against the pinto,probably becauce they are not very tuneable.
Best of luck with the search someone is bound to come up with the answer.

I would say that if you have a weber carb now, (which will be a horrible vacuum secondary one!) then the two substitutions to look at, which are used by pretty much everybody, are the Weber 32-36 DGAV (as fitted to early 2 ltr sierras, later 2 ltr cortinas, capris etc, mechaincal secondary progressive opening carb) or the 38 DGAS, which was fitted to the 3 ltr Capris originally.

Rally spares places will yield both such items!

Would you say these carbs would be a direct swap or would I need some manifold modification?
