Ok this I just know is going to be yet another of my REALLY stupid ideas....

but does anyone know what would be involved in building a paddle shift mechanism?

And what would Mr SVA man think of the idea?

Depends whether you want mechanically operated or electrical. Check out OX's website or U2U him. He's made a few mechanically operated ones Shouldn't be an issue for Mr SVA

Lots of people doing this already. Stuart taylor do a system which they use on there race cars. I was at an air field day last year and they were testing a flat shift system as well. Looking to use this on the next car.

Would have thought it would be possible to use buttons on the steering wheel operating through relays to control something like an overdrive solonoid to move a gearchange lever on a bike engine?

Not stupid, just it's all been done for you!
