Zetec Water Pump

I have a 2004 Ford Focus 2.0L motor that I'm planning to use. The standard water pump runs CCW off the back side of the drive belt (Non Ribbed Side). I'm not going to use the power steering or A/C and am looking for a simple way to drive the water pump and alternator (and do it cheaply). There are some versions of the zetec where the pump is driven CW by the ribbed side of the belt. I thought I read someplace that the only difference was the impeller, in that it was a mirror of what I have, so it would pump the fluid in the same direction. What I was thinking to do was to take the mirror impeller out of the water pump....and then install it into mine. Has anyone done this? What year car should I look for? Does anyone know of an easier way (I do not want to change all the timing belt tension pulley set up by going to the water pump for a 1.8 L zetec that is directly above the crank)

short answer is "no". Dunnell have apparently done an impellor for this, but they wanted around £200 when I asked.

I ended up getting a power steering pump for mine and just plumbing it in dry.

Take a look at www.toyne.orgfor an alternative solution - my home fabbing isn't up to this sort of engineering.

Why bother with the hassle?
You can get a new Escort water pump for about £20.
