Hi guys I need some advice on a crossflow head.

would a head that had a a crack between exhaust and inlet valve, be as good as new when repaired?

Probably better off replacing it - look in the For Sale section - someone was selling x-flow heads...

sorry, my head is fine, i am looking at buying one with bigger valves, however it was cracked and was then repaired

Common Crossflow problem when fitting bigger valves, not usually a big problem as there's no water gallery nearby. Can be a problem if you want to run unleaded as there isn't enough room for an insert depending on valve sizes.

i wouldnt buy any cracked head i cant see how it would be successfully repaired go for a new one or used then get it cleaned and polished

if you do go for it pay peanuts then spend money getting the head pressure tested

Personally i wouldnt touch a repaired head hwen so many unrepaired ones are out there. Buy a good standard head and get the valves and guides yourself and have a local machine shop fit them, at least then you know what you have.

It's worth 99p, if no one bids Lars, just for the bits. Collection may be a problem though.

The new head on E bay is the early type with combustion chambers , not suitable for engines with bowls in the pistons
