Anyone ever made there own dry sump setup? My 20XE came with a power steering pump attached which got the old neurons firing. Reckon it could be used as a scavenge pump?
well if interested i have a qed dry sump pan (twin scavenge type). the 3 stage pace pump is the best imho, but by no means cheap, interested to find
out if anything else can be used...

I think PPC were going to do an article on this a while back but, if rumour is true, they couldn't get a reliable setup.
Can anyone elaborate?
PS If anyone can come up with a reliable solution, I've also got a dry sump pan waiting to go onto my zetec...

In the days before manufacturers started putting kits together for dummies, us old timers would just buy all the individual components and do it all
ourselves.
Someone like Think Automotive should have all the parts and fittings you would need barr the sump.
Some obviously have purpose made dry sumps, but again, they're not hard to knock up from steel sheet.
You may have to do some footwork and research to assertain and source pulleys of the correct sizes etc., but that's half the fun! 
As soon as I can come up with a pump that has an acceptable price tag then that is what I will do on my seven.
I have a Caterham alloy wet sump that is so shallow that I see no reason that I cannot weld a vee of alloy sheet into it and use it as a dry sump pan.
Tanks are cheap enough s/h and a local hydraulic company can soon crimp up the (non-aeroquip) hoses (std single wire commercial hydraulic hose)
I am hoping my mate can get me a good price on a dry sump pump from the USA.
