Instant 84ps Rover K16 1.4 mpi to 104ps

Crazy sensible --- after the single point injection engine went out of production on the basic Rover 25 Mpi 1.4 the 84ps with the K16 engine to reduce the power output the metal throttlebody was fitted with stop to prevent the butterfly openning fully, it also uses a different throttle cable, change both and you get an instant 20bhp gain. Apparentlt this is the only difference from the 104ps version.

It may (?) be possible to file down the stop on the existing metal throttle body to allow the buttefly to open a full 90 degrees but a a new cable will still be required.

Isn't it annoying when companies do this?
My Wife's C3 HDi is a "detuned" version. You can only have the more powerful engine with the top level out of 5 levels of trim, and even then you have to pay a premium for the extra power.

So, does anyone know what the differences are between the 115ps and 130ps ford duratorq TDCi engines?

Apparently true - yet to be tested, but I bought a s/h 1.4K from Viking and they threw in a throttle body from the higher output engine. It is a straight swop and as you say the only difference seems to be how far the butterfly opens

...actually, the rate things are going, I will be glad to get the bloody thing working at all, let alone have an extra 20bhp
