Hi Folks,
Problems - I have mounted my 1600 Xflow engine about 15MM higher at the rear (gearbox mounting) to bring the engine up slightly (pretty much
horizontal) as it is all a rather tight fit even with a shortened sump.
This has exacerbated the dreaded 'no room for the speedo take off problem'. The only way out that I can see is to obtain an elbow gear
fitting or go for an elecronic speedo. Any ideas on cost effective solutions here. The output is almost dead in line with the bottom prop tunnell tube
- bugger!
I would like a speedo that looks like a gauge as opposed to a digital jobbi
not cheap, but an easy fix

never actually done it, but surely with a bit of minor engineering one of these could do the trick???

I am going to try using the one off of a mgb tranny and make it fit my T5 - dont know if it will go or not yet though.
If not it may be a tough decision of not using the smiths gauges that came with a donor.

i drilled a large hole on mine, through the panel on the transmisson tunnel. It runs under the carpet, round the o/s of the pedals and up behind the
dash.
Not all of the electronic speedo's are digital . Check out GreenGauges website for some traditional type speedo's using sensors on the prop/drive shafts. Sure there are others as well
Mine is also done like this, it was a short term bodge but is now permanent and a has been no problem .I used a large Grommet and P clipped the cable
to the floor.
