since last weekend I've been trying to figure out wether I could use the escort clutch set up with a sierra DOHC frictionplate. It has a slightly
smaller diameter then the escort part and is also slightly thinner (0.9 mm) but tis could be the differense in milage of the parts. By eye it seems to
meet up nicely. But has anyone tried it or knows why this shouldn't work?

There are various combinations of clutch components people use when mating a zetec to a type 9 gearbox. I used the fiction plate and cover from a 1.6
/ 1.8 mondeo and a capri 1.3 release bearing. I believe westfield also use the above plate / cover but with their own modified release bearing. Tiger
on the other hand use a sierra fiction plate and a mondeo cover... and the list goes on. Trouble is no one (kit car manufacturers) tends to want to
tell you what they use because they just want to sell you their "clutch package", so you don't just go to the motor factors and buy the
parts at half the price. The above combination of mondeo / capri parts works if you want the part numbers look here:

thanks fr the reply had already found those and then some. just tried to find out if someone had tried this before.
I don't think the diameter difference will do any harm or be to small.
But I will try and use the MT75 gearbox, because I know the one I have works good, the T9 I have, I haven't driven, that 's why it is my 2nd
choice
I'll measure the difference in distance to the leaver arm from both and try to figure it out
thanks

No problem. Zetec has a MT75 box attached to his zetec I think may be worth dropping him a U2U ?
