Can anybody tell me a cheap way of dropping the temperature of my engine. I have blocked all of the holes around the rad but it still gets very hot...help...

- more powerfull fan
- bigger radiator?

- is thermostat housing ok? full opening??

- water pump ok??

mine was an airlock which I removed by bleeding the air from the fan switch in the top of the rad. Just loosened alot and then ran the engine and then waited until water started seaping from the hole and then tightened it.

Retarded timing will cause overheating, too.

..............all good questions, and the next one which I have been caught out by...............is it really overheating??

It's not uncommon for gauges to misread, especially where donor senders and other donor's gauges have been mixed.

Is it boiling and blowing coolant out?

Best bet would be for you to tell us what engine, what radiator and how you have plumbed it.

Then we can all argue about how wrong/wright it is.
