bending fuel pipe?
Jumpy Guy - 22/7/05 at 10:39 AM

my car has solid fuel pipe, and the location of my shiny new fuel tank means that its bending the wrong way

how do i bend this without any stress fractures appearing?

thanks for that !!

never thought of that!

Anyone got any useful thoughts?

Std copper or kunifer? iirc kunifer work hardens a lot quicker than std copper. Can it be heated befor ebending?

not keen on heating up fuel pipe with a blowtorch!

Cut back to a point where the run is as required and then join a correct profile pipe with a union?

...or cut it back to a suitable point and complete the run to the new tank with braided fuel hose.

copper work hardens quicker than kunifer, not the other way round (though kunifer is harder to start with)

If it is just 8mm copper than just get another roll and redo it (I did mine twice over before I was happy with the job)

It's only £6 or so for a roll of 8mm microbore from screwfix.

I take it the car has been on road, fuel running thro lines etc - fair point then.

My car has braided lines right thro so there shouldnt be a problem with cutting the pipe back, flaring the end and running a short length of braided.
