Is Re-ferbin and re-jetting a pair of dellortos a possible diy job or is it one for the pro's? Either way does anyone know where to get it done or where to get the bits in west yorkshire???

depending how bad they are, refurbing at home is perfectly within the realms of possibility

cheers i don't think they are too bad. They just need jetting, gaskets cos they leak a bit and a few new screws, oh and a good clean up, they're mingin!

Really quite straightforward if you take your time and be careful. Get yourself a pair of rebuild kits-got mine off ebay-some kits come with different bits depending where you get them.

Can of Carb cleaner and some small brushes for the bodies-give them a nice scrub down, selection of small screw drivers for the covers/jets etc and plenty of WD40 cos some will be stiff.

Most kits wont have new screws etc so you may need to call someone like Eurocarb for these.

Make sure to set the correct float levels in both carbs.

Make sure all the jets match in both carbs too-you might not know the correct jetting for your set up so a rolling road tune will be needed after-as long as both sets are the same you should be able to get it running, but a rolling road will get them spot on.

An air line is also handy for blowing thru jets to clean them out.

Do one bit at a time, lay out your rebuild kit, remove a jet and see if it has a seal, replace as necessary and put back in, just work methodically and its easy.

And have a CLEAN work area-kitchen tables are by far the best place-wife allowing of course!!

Clean the outside with cellulose thinners first to get the worst off, it's cheaper than carb cleaner. Use a stiff paint brush to get in the corners and an airline to dry it if you have one.

Try www.jrs.uk.com. They specialise in dellorto's but cleaned a couple of DCOE's for me and they came back mint.
