To maintain the belt pattern for my 2l zetec, I've kept the power steering pump on the engine. However there is no fluid running through it so it's been running dry.

It doesn't like doing this.

Is it ok to put some hose looped from inlet to outlet and fill as far as I can with power steering fluid?

Alternatively, does anyone know of someone who makes an alternator bracket that will fit between the water pump and the exhaust (not enough room to affix to the sump)
