just realised my new cooling system has no pressure cap (realised as i was filling it through the thermostat!). Will this be a problem in the short
term/long term? Ive got a massive fan on it now at least
If it is a big problem, i assume i can get a pressure valve to go in a pipe, or maybe accelerate my plans for a header tank.
cheers all. I cant actually believe ive got this far in 24 hours!
well im off for a spin in 10 mins, so i hope its ok!
The pressure cap should be there to" a" to raise the boiling point of the coolant and "b" to release excess pressure ,k would recommend a header tank ASAP .
it occured to me theres no expansion tank either... might look into it!
Hi Joel, you dont have to have a header but it does make it easier to fill and keeps a head of water all the time.
How many times did the old escort MK 1 & 2's get below the fins in the rad every time we checked them?(sorry Joel you're not old enough
to remember )
You DO need a pressure cap! Steam tends to melt anything from skin to metal!
Of course a header will have its own pressure cap.
All the best mate, DEAN.
cheers dean im working on it!
