What is the standard 2.0 / 1.8 Zetec Spark plug gap?
i've seen 1.3mm/ .051" on a website, that sounds large........
As I have the Zetec coilpack fitted with my Megajolt I thought I could open my CVH plugs up a little.............
gaps are HUGE dave, but designed for those plugs and that engine,be too big for your old boat anchor
I could still go up to .035" or summat, always rely on you to be quick off the mark..........
Captain Birdseye say's my old 'boat anchor' dont go to bad with the carbs/megajolt, people could try it before knocking it!!
Definately try it b4 you knock it as the man says!,
Don't think we've really opened our plugs up much since installing the megajolt.
Maybe a middle value to open them up2 might be whatever it says for a 1.8CVH or a Fiesta engine with the EDIS.
i.e a compromise value between an older engine and a newer coil design/setup.
(aren't the spark plugs in quite a different location in newer engines, right in the middle deep in the head, maybe why it can be a bigger gap?)
Original spec was 1.3mm, but due to plug leads breaking down and other problems this was reduced to 1.0mm.
Thanks, i'll try .035" should be OK I reckon, bit like the original gap with a very long service interval...........
