Would anyone happen to know the height (from sump to cam-belt cover) of a 2litre pinto engine. I would also be interested to know the length from
thebellhousing bolt face to the nose of the water pump (or whatever else sticks out the most). I am researching alternatives to the pinto engine.
TIA, John
Are you using CAD? I have 3D models of 1.6 pinto, 2.0i DOHC, 2.9V6, some jap engines and various gearboxes. They are quite accurate and show intake and exhaust, alternators, fan belts, distributors, etc. as well as mounting points.
Dunc Baby,
I'll have the Pinto one if Poss!!
Cheers
Chris
I'm not using CAD at the moment, but am interested in hearing reccommendations as to which program to get. In the meantime, could your program output
a jpeg I could see?
John
John,
Just had a quick measure of my 2.0 litre Pinto, with the chopped sump(level with the gearbox bellhousing)is 545 mm from the bottom of the sump to the
top of the rocker cover i.e not including the oil filler spout.
It's 600mm from the gearbox flange to the front of the water pump.
Cheers

Interesting bit of comparison (or not for Bob) :
Pinto = 115 hp injected, in say a 600kg car = 192 bhp ton.
Ford 2.9 150hp injected, is about 50-70 kg more than a pinto, so 670kg all up = 223 bhp ton.
These are std engines, with no expensive twin carbs or trick mods.
For Jon, yep, a bike engine is much better - say 520kg at 135hp from a fireblade = 260 bhp ton.
Yes, I am bored.
ATB
Steve.
I suspect Liam might have something to add with his 170hp 2.7 honda v6.
Nissan 200SX, 198 Bhp, 600kg car, 330bhp/ton But it only revs to 7250rpm Jon
Yes I am bored too.
PS. Did any of you see Driven on ch4 last night? Lotus Moded xr4x4 vs a Max Power Mag moded Cav Sri.
Thanks for the info, Gentlemen. Anyone interested in Ford V6 performance tuning might like to have a look at

The Bently almost had the elise beat too. Maybe I'm going the wrong way, maybe I should go for the big weight big power. Hmmm maybe not.
I like the v6 sierra's. I ran about in a 4x4 one for a couple of weeks there till I managed to break a conrod last weekend. Took a day to strip the
front suspension and take the engine out. Contemplated putting it back together for a couple of months till the tax runs out but decided to strip it
early. Great traction and low end grunt but found the sierra understeered horrendously, hopefully in a locost it'll be sorted. Get the Max Power lads
to get it 'SORTED'.
Sorry, back to the subject before I get abuse from Wally. What would be the best format to post drawings. JPGS lose some of the data, would WMF be any
good?

Sorry, I didn't mean data loss I meant resolution. Sometimes it can be hard to read numbers and text on jpgs from drawings. WMF seam to scale it and it can be read into word.
Hi Dunc
I'm interested in those drawing too but DEFINITlY NOT in 3D CAD.
Can you make them .pdf; anyone can download freely Acrobat Reader from www.adobe.com to read .pdf files.
Cheers

Ok J I'll give it a go. If Boss Man manages to get the file thingy up and running I can put stuff there. I'm still trying to sort out all my cad files, have over 3000, so its taking a lot longer than I'd expected.
dunc
very interested in 3d models of engines and gearboxes as im modeling my IRS chassis in solidworks at the mo and would be very helpful.
Thanks
Ben
I've just seen the postings by DUNC about the cad diagrams of the 2.9 cologne. I would really really love to get my hands on them for use in Autocad 2002 on a 4x4 one off I'm working on. If DUNC is out there or anyone knows where I might find him please get in touch, cheers.
Hello Dunc,
I'm interested in CAD files of de 2.0i dohc sierra engine. Which program has been used?
