hi all.
Knackered my fuel pump yesterday. It looks just like a facet solid state one at the minute, with a pressure reg under the bonnet. Reading old threads
it seems that i can use a bike fuel pump, i have one in the garage so would like to do this, as a simple quick solution. Do i just swap the pumps over
and skip the pressure regulator? The pump i have is one of the regular mitsubishi ones fitted to blade and zx9s etc.
Cheers!
no one knows?! shocking
all im asking is do bike fuel pumps have a built in regulator!
Hi Joel
Yes they do, the pump to pressure then slow down / stop pumping as the pressure increases, so no need for a regulator when using with bike carbs.

Just done this Joel, replaced facet blue top (fast road ver) and filter king reg with an R1 mitsubishi pump. I have also installed two inline fuel filters as well (pre and post pump). Pumps up to pressure then cuts out - Works great with my Blackbird carbs (on my 2.0L Zetec). Facet pump was too powerful and was flooding the carbs, even with reg set to it's lowest setting.
cheers chaps!
GMTBH, i saw your ad when i did a search but misread the date as january!
buzzing, might even do it tonight then!
thanks again.
Joel, I just made a bracket from some ali sheet, and fitted the bike pump horizontally where the facet one was fitted (even used the same rubber
bobbins and mounting holes). My pump is at bolted (with the rubber bobbins) to the inside of the inner wing, about 10 inches from the fuel tank. There
is one filter between the tank and the pump and another identical filter in the engine bay just before the carbs. Filters from ebay (nice chrome and
glass 8mm connections reusable ones) Pic attached.
