X-flow rocker cover

Now I have made my bonnet, my original Escort Mk2 rocker cover is too high.

Anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced rocker cover that does not have the oil filler sticking out 2.5" above the engine?

I'm not too bothered about it looking too flash as most of the time it won't be visible so a steel one would do, but chrome or alloy would be nice!

A friend of Hicosts who's car is in the book I believe (initials JMB on nosecone) has a Vulcan rocker cover for his Pinto. This has a screw down filler cap that only sticks up about 5mm from the top of cover.

I've considered moving the filler to the back of the cover but am now thinking of chopping out the filler bit of the cover and replacing with something like a VW Golf or Polo one which is nice and low.

Bear in there's no point making it lower than about 3/4 of an inch as you can't cut down the height of the camshaft sprocket!

HTH,

James

Err, the camshaft sprocket is halfway down the engine block on a Xflow...Methinks you have cut too much off

Okay, (as the Conrod knows- he sold it to me) I've got a Pinto so it's relevent to me ok!

I'll go back to my Cave now and sulk!

Cheers,
James

P.S. Where's the angle grinder gone- I want to skim my cylinder head...

I know Vulcan has been mentioned but you may want to know that their X Flow alloy one has the filler at the other end from standard, this gives you the clearance due to the slope on the bonnet. Also makes it easy to fill ! You get them with Vulcan written on or plain.
About £55.00, not cheap but looks good too !

or you could make me a sensible offer for my piper ladder box, see pixs in for sale (couple off pages back so you might have to search? 7 pages tittled rocker box), it takes a standard Xflow cap pushed down flush with the top.

Enjoy.
