I'm meeting up with a guy on Saturday that has a Micra Rad for sale. Can someone let me know what the dimensions are so I can verify it is from
MK1 Micra and not a Massey Furguson or summat. Or better still post a piccie of one or point out some distinguising features so I can verify it is the
real thing.

I am also considering a Micra radiator, but I am still struggling to believe that a rad designed to cool 40BHP is going to cope with a 125BHP engine
being used the way nature intended in a locost

however, the capacity of a rad is to do with surface area and air velocity and temp.
so, if you can put ballistic amounts of air through it......still seems a tall order tho.....

Sorry,can't help with the dimensions of a Micra radiator - but I'm betting it's lightweight aluminium finned thing which should do
nicely. I've used MK1/2 Golf radiators in the past and they far out perform any Ford type nonsence - the surface area of a radiator has nothing
to do with its external dimensions after all.
Mind you my fathers' car toy is a properly sorted Plus 8 Morgan and from choice I wouldn't use the radiator in that to cool a Micra - but
it works now in his car....how you get the air through a radiator is the most important thing and a header tank works wonders btw

I've fitted a MK2 Polo rad and had the engine ticking over with bonnet fitted for 15-20 mins and no problems yet. I was told this rad has been used for racing for years and is standard fit on W**tfield (pay £40 new rather than £130 W**tfield!). Other benifit is ali core means warm up time is 3-4 mins, suspect Micra similar design so should be fine.
Shit or bust, I'll get one tomorrow!

A pickie of the micra rad I got this morning for £5. I had to get 2, I accidently licked the first one and stuck it on an envelope!

I looked at a Micra rad at the scrappers this morning. Are they all Ali? It didn't look it. The car had been stuffed at the front, so didn't
want it anyway.
I do happen to have a Fiat Uno rad lying around that I've been looking at, its nearly all plastic, and is very light! Any thoughts?

I've just got a new nose cone (from Triton) and found that my Mk2 Escort radiator doesn't fit!
I don't want to hack the new plastic around (it's far too nice!) so I need to get a smaller rad. The favourites seem to be the Mk2 Polo or
the Micra rads.
Anyone used either of these in in a road-going car? I'm running a mildly tuned 1660 X-flow, which shouldn't be too demanding, but I'd
like to know whether they are up to the task.

BTW: I can only reinforce what Jasper has said the past - Triton GRP is excellent - well made, solid (1/4" thick in places!), beautiful finish,
and easy to fit.
My micra rad seems fine* and comes with sucking fan operated by a thermoswitch in the radiator.
I replaced my escort radiator earlier this year because the engine tended to overheat in stop-start traffic.

*Well so far so good anyway, cold weather daily running on a 1700 crossflow, kent 234 cam, high flow head, two dcoe 40s, moderate compression and with
a standard 88 deg.C thermostat in dome type housing vented to a pressurised header tank with min coolant level above the top of the highest pipes.
Does anyone actually have the dimensions of the Polo rad ? and the Micra rad ?
Just a simple A x B x C would do I guess !

The Micra rad looks as if it will do the job. The newer ali rads are far more efficient than the older copper xflow items.
It certainly fills the nosecone nicely, just make sure that the filler is the highest point above engine.
On subject of nosecone, I notice from photos that you are holding nosecone on with couple of inside handscrews and at bottom by two fastenings screwed
in.
You will certainly need to remove the nosecone many times and with that in mind may I suggest using 'Zeus' fasteners.
I've used one underneath and one each side of nosecone on rebated flange where bonnet fits, down at side rail. They do not sick out proud other
than rivet height and are cheap, quick and easy to use.

You guys should also look at the Polo rad thread
The rad i found for jasper came from a D reg micra 1 litre,its exactly the same as marks pic.
Fitted the rad now, next small problem, the pinto hoses are this big (..................) and the micra ones are this big (......).
I think an intermediate metal pipe welded to fit both sizes would work, but I am sure there is a better way - anyone know what it is?

pretty sure I have seen flashy and expensive hoses with different diameters each end.....
europa, for instance, do a straight adaptor hose goig from 45 to 25mm dia (example) for about 9 quid.
what sizes are you looking at......if you dont have a catalog I can tell you a part no.
