Stupid question time...
I bought my pinto in bits, got it all figured out except one thing.
On the back of my pinto block is a big hole going into the water jacket. It would be behind the gearbox bellhousing once its bolted on i think. But
obviously theres not meant to be a hole there.
Should it have a core plug in? Or does something else belong in there? (i couldnt think of anything, and theres no fixing holes around the hole).
Cheers,
David
If it is this 'hole', you will need a core plug

Nope, its on the block behind/under the gearbox bellhousing, not in the head. Its fairly big, not a clue on size off the top of my head though.
I dont have any pics unfortunately, and the engines 100miles away.

Thats the one.

Yes you need a cors plug, probably worth fitting a set, only pennies but will save a lot of hassle
Oops should have mentioned that
When I stripped the engine that plug was weeping so I took it out.
Cheers Brian
I will yank all the old ones out anyway i should think and flush the block through, though it looks to be pretty clean anyway.

he he he - thats the bugger that failed on mine at SVA and dumped dirty water into their brake rollers Believe me its a sod to get to when engine is installed (e-metalled for now until i upgrade at a later date.)
