Has any one every thought of putting a lotus 907 engine into a locost?
As standard I am told that they have about 160bhp, and that they match up to a ford box fairly easily. Plus the sit at a angle therefore lower bonet.
A good engine will cost between £300-400. Parts are all still easy to get.
Right so that is the good points what are the bad????

We reconditioned a 907 (2.2) about a year ago.
From experience I can tell you that parts are not easy to get. Pistons and Liners in particular are VERY expensive. When youv'e finished throwing
money at them you haven't much to show, - 16 valve alloy blocked Bedford van engine!
Please don't waste you time!
Concur with the above statement, steer clear! A mate had an Esprit and had to have a rebuild, mucho expensivo. IMHO thqat power level can be done better and cheaper by modern production engines as the 907 is now over 30 years old. Thought about a Peugeot/ Citroen 16 valve XU? 160bhp (ish) as standard.
it is very light and you could probably get one out of rusty Jensen Healey but there are better choices.
Yeah, about 500 better choices.
