Bike carbs on a pinto
scoop - 29/4/06 at 08:06 AM

Is it a case of put them on, supply fuel and go or is it convert to electric ignition, fuel pump and management?

andyharding - 29/4/06 at 10:15 AM

My kit from Bogg Bros was bolt on, connect fuel and throttle cable, turn key, drive.

So apart from the carbs themselves what else did the kit consist of, a manifold presumably but anything else?

Can anyone else tell me if there is a particular set i should be after like R6 etc?

38 or 40 mm dia seems to be a popular choice
zx9 carbs are 40mm
r1 or fazer 40mm afaik
see jackos photo archive he has just fiited zx9 carbs to a pinto and has had it set up by bogg brothers on rolling road
180 bhp at flywheel.
no need for any expensive alterations but they rcommended having the standard dizzy modified

could you supercharge a pinto with bike carbs

se7ensport - 29/4/06 at 06:10 PM

anyone know the cost of the pinto kit including carbs?

got 45's and 3d ignition so easy power hike + carbs should sell easily on e-bay!

jacko - 29/4/06 at 06:11 PM

Supercharge with a big SU carb ?Jacko

A pair of HIF 44 or 48 should do it nicely. Or a single 48 dcoe would do.

- Yamaha R1 carbs cleaned and re-jetted for your engine.
- Alu manifold.
- Tube plus clips to attach carbs to manifold.

The kit cost me around the £300 mark. I think they have gone up a bit now as the carbs are getting hard to find.

I already had a low pressure solid state electric pump but you'll need one of these too if you don't have one already. You can use a bike one (£15 ebay) or a facet (£30) with R1 carbs.

Finally got around to uploading the video I made just after fitting the bike carbs (ignore the bodged throttle cable).

Warning: it's 90BM so if you haven't got broadbeans you should have.
