SAAB CLUTCH CYLINDER
DEAN C. - 25/4/02 at 10:13 PM

Hi, does anyone know the part number for the saab concentric clutch slave cylinder, that some builders have used to fit Toyota 4age to a Toyota t50 box when you have no room for an external cylinder.
I know Eddy McClements has used one on his site .

Hi Dean

I own a Saab and use Euro Car Parts for bits http://www.eurocarparts.co.uk Their website should provide you with the info you need. If not give them a bell, they should be able to sort you out, and their prices are V. good.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks ,but after looking at their website I have found various cylinders for the saab's but I'm not sure exactly which car model/year etc.any ideas?I know most of the late stuff have external cylinders.
Might have to ring them if I cant find out for definate, there is a big variation in price too, for different year/models.
Thanks for the advice.

I'm resurrecting on old thread here but can anyone tell me if the concentric slave cylinder used on hydraulic mondeos etc can be used? Everyone seems to use the saab one, and it seems to me that the ford one should be more compatible and maybe cheaper? My application would be with an MT75 box

Thanks Wimmera,

What gearbox were you using?

Bloody hell,forgot about this post.
The Zetec one is bulkier and looked much more awkward to fit,the Saab unit is much neater, and at the state of Ford prices now I would say the Saab unit is cheaper at about £35 ish from Europarts, look at their website and you can order one direct.

Thanks for the advice.

I did a search using Wimmera's Saab part numbers, and came up with AP racing website, which has a nice dimensioned pdf of their (saab interchangeable) unit.....which was nice!

The Saab clutch slave cylinder I used came from Euro Car Parts and is for (I think) a Saab 99. I believe that some Saab 900 models also used it, but not the 9000. Whatever, the part numbers you need are:-

cylinder is 4776308
bearing is 8721995

Hope this helps.

Above advice is spot-on. I am using one on my Ford Type 9 gearbox fitted to Vauxhall XE 16v engine. Machine up an adaptor to attach the release cylinder to the 4 bolts that usually retain the trumpet housing on the front of the box. Counterbore the adaptor to take the seal that usually sits in the rear of the trumpet housing.

Here's a pic of the same done to a Fiat 'box.
