Clutch plate
paulf - 6/5/02 at 09:55 PM

I am trying to track down a clutch plate to join a 1300 cVH engine to a 5 speed sierra box. It needs to be 7.5 inch diameter and have 23 splines and the input shaft of the gearbox is 25mm diameter.I think a 1600 sierra plate will fit but have been told that the gearbox spline is the size used on a 2 litre. Can anyone advise me if this is correct and if there is more than one input spline type.
Paul.

Paul, there is a shop up the road from me who can supply. They are called AutoCross
in Bracknell 01344 422220 (although I got this from a.n.other web site)

Try Burton Power in Ilford. I've just got a clutch plate to fix a Mk9 box to a X-flow from them.

They seem to know what they're talking about!

Paul
Ask the conrod kid (John) as he's running a crossflow with 5 speed.
I think the sierra clutch should do it though.

Also there is a gearbox/engine combination list on locostcarclub.co.uk

Yo paul the clutch i used is an early sierra 1600 ,they were made bigger later on in life,i belive the splines are the same as 4 speed seirra as they just put the 5th gear extension on the back of the box to make it 5 speed.

pps you may have to drill new holes for the pressure plate,it was a year ago i did it

I was hoping to use the original CVH pressure plate and release bearing if possible. The engine and box only have to last long enough to get the car running and SVA tested.I have a blade engine to fit afterwards but dont want the hassle of catalitic conveters etc to add to the SVA.
