I have a 2l pinto with twin 40 webbers (given by a friend) in my locost. At the point now of connecting everything up and have got stuck with the plumbing. Can anyone help me with what connects where? Principally:
1. How do I connect the heater into the system? I think the connection comes off the thermostat but have no idea where it returns.
2. Where does the expansion tank fit into the system and what level should it be at?
3. What's the best way to fit a sensor for an electric fan?

Seems there are a variety of differtent ways to do it. I think what I really need is some kind of flow chart to understand what direction everything should be flowing, that way I can fit my bits in the correct and logical place.

The overflow from the radiator - is this the same as the small pipe that exits where the pressure cap fits?
Also where would you fit a heater into this system?

Heater goes onto the normal head pipe and the one from the water pump IIRC.

The overflow/expansion pipe is the one near the rad cap yes.

If you have a rad with a cap on you dont need a header tank.

Just had a look and my thermostat only has the outlet to the radiator not the second on your drawing. In this case where should the take off for the expansion tank come from?

Just from the rad is fine for the expansion hose

I wouldn't bother with a pressurised header tank. A simple overflow with siphon back works fine. Block the bleed from the thermostat housing. Ford used to do a blocked hose to fit on this. Threeway bypass tap for heater for the summer.

Mine was like that but I eventually did fit a header tank in the loop to the inlet manifold as it got boring removing the nosecone to top up.
