throttle body / carb balancer

Anybody got one that will work with a vauxhall engine on throttle bodies.

I have borrowed an SU one from MikeR but it just bounces up and down its full scale with the inlet pulses!

Interestingly, in the past i have managed to balance chokes with the rubber tube in ear technique, but with this engine I just get the induction pulses so sharply in my ear that its inpossible to tell what's going on!

Am I missing something (other than my eardrums now!! lol! )

mhhh cant you rev it on fast idle??

guess it wiil be better then??

anyway you need a scale from 1 to 1

It pulls too much air on low idle, let alone fast idle!!!

Don't worry its safe and sound Mike!

Bit confused as i thought it should work, but then I see there is one the same on ebay for sale "due to fault causing needle to vibrate" so maybe its just that these are no good for this applilcation!

Think I will just buy one, the proper ones appear to be £29 buy it now on ebay which isn't too bad.

Longer inlet............................have you seen the inlets, any longer and you won't be able to overtake it!!! lol

I have a proper synchro you can borrow if you want Nat. You will have to come and pick it up and bring it back before the end of the week though.

you do realise you can damp the scale on mine via the little button on the bottom near either the front or back (how helpful a description is that?)

yes, but it seemed to merely slow the needle down from so fast it was a blur to hitting both ends of the scale 10 times a second.....doh!!!

I've got a set of 4 balance gauges that I use for the bike that have a dampening screw. They may work for what you want as if you are near mallory you are only a few miles down the road from me.

I'm happy to lend them to you to give it a try if you want.
