any mods on chassis for zetec fittings
greasy nipples - 16/6/03 at 11:08 PM

I am fitting a 2 litre zetec to my locost.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me, if the diagonal brace going through the engine bay is going to foul, if i put it as book spec. I thought it would be easier than offering the engine in.

thanks for any feedback

Just been out and had a quick measure. My 2.0l Zetec is suspended in the chassis awailting the arrival of a nosecone to allow final positioning. The only thing close to tube R would be the plenum chamber, (which I don't intend to use). Also I don't think it will be possible to fit / removen the engine and gearbox as an assembly with tube R as per book. I may look at alternate ways of bracing the engine bay.

I did think about moving it slightly to overcome this problem, but if it is ok i would rather leave as-is.
I am going to use a spencer-ashley throttle body conversion on mineso i hope it will fit as i have yet to buy it
(1600 quid!)

thanks for your thoughts

My chassis was built to the book as far as the front end of the car is concerned, and was orginally fitted witha crossflow engine. The only chassis mods that I have had to do is to make new engine mounts and support for them. The standard intake chamber will foul on your steering aswell but I am using webers. The engine and gearox can be fitted and removed as one unit providing you take the nose cone off and your radiator is not to high.
